Small Purple Cows

Some days I think Seth is just messing with our heads - Small is the New Big. Really? Haven't we always been sold that bigger is better. Size matters! "My car has a 428 cubic inch Police Interceptor Motor." "My company has offices on every continent.(Of course some of the staff are penguins.)" My church is the fastest growing church in _ _ _ _ _ _. We have more than XX,000 people attending. (Faith IS the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.)"

And then Seth says:

Small means the founder makes a far greater percentage of the customer interactions. Small means the founder is close to the decisions that matter and can make them, quickly.

Small is the new big because small gives you the flexibility to change the business model when your competition changes theirs.

Small means you can tell the truth on your blog.

Small means that you can answer email from your customers.

A small church has a minister with the time to visit you in the hospital when you’re sick.

Perhaps Peter Gabriel will do a new song called "Smalltime." It just won't be ironic, is all.
