Erika and John both tagged me, so I guess I should play. (Imbi is probably amazed that there might be something regular readers of my blog don't already know about me.)
1) What’s the most fun work you’ve ever done, and why?
Working with Chris Falson on the Amazing Stories worship project for Maranatha! Music in the early '90's. Imbi was the producer. I was the director. Rob Mathes was the music director. Malcolm du Plessis was the Exec Producer. We spent way too much time behind the Orange Curtain in SoCal. And we laughed harder and had more fun than people should have when they are seriously working. (One of my favourite moments was sitting in a restaurant in Dana Point after the recording surrounded by bottles of beer - most of the musical team were Australians or East Coasters - and the then president of M!M living in fear that his Pentecostal Preacher father might walk through the door.)
2) A. Name one thing you did in the past that you no longer do but wish you did?
Lead worship in a local church context. (My guitar gently weeps for lack of being played.)
B. Name one thing you’ve always wanted to do but keep putting it off?
Finish my first novel.
3) A. What two things would you most like to learn or be better at, and why?
I'd love to better at Time Management (see 4A and B). I'd like to know more about my grandmother's Jewish heritage - because I'm intrigued by the impact of our heritage on our lives.
B. If you could take a class/workshop/apprentice from anyone in the world living or dead, who would it be and what would you hope to learn?
Do I really have to choose?? C.S.Lewis on writing. N.T.Wright on the church.
4) A. What three words might your best friends or family use to describe you?
Funny, creative, disorganized
B. Now list two more words you wish described you…
Svelte, organized
5) What are your top three passions? (can be current or past, work, hobbies, or causes)
After Imbi, Liam, Rylan and Kaili - Africa (especially Nairobi and teaching at Daystar), music, books (at one time the local church would have been number one after my family - not anymore, unfortunately)
6) Write–and answer–one more question that YOU would ask someone
Why does so much crap happen in the church? Because we are broken people, in a broken world - and we are the ones who are continually breaking it.
I'll tag two Brads - Brad Boydston and Brad Bergfalk (who, like Erika, are ECC pastors) and my number one, metal clad son, Liam Kinnon.
